Blip Festival 2008, New Release, Gear and You

Hey, everyone:

There's been a lot going on with me. I've been handling all of the artwork for this year's Blip Festival, preparing a set for said festival and drinking coffee made in a Moka Express. Oh, yummers.

Okay, let's get this started.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

BLIP FESTIVAL 2008

In case you've missed the news, Blip Festival 2008 swarms into, onto and around New York City from Thursday, December 4th until Sunday, December 7th.

http://blipfestival.org

--------------------------------------------------

Joining me for my set will be a group of musicians righteous on several levels. Turntablist, DJ Big Wiz, will take time from touring with Aesop Rock, Rob Speed, El-P and the Def Jux Records crew to cut it up better than an emo garde manger on Valentine's Day. From the band Balún, Angélica Negrón will play accordion and José Olivares will play melodica more precious than a deer and rabbit licking each other clean in the woods. On drums, Carl Peczynski, also known as Oxygen Star and My Two Robodads, will lay into some skin like a bewigged savage. Winner of the 2005 National Hammered Dulcimer Championship, Max ZT, will make his hands move so quickly you'll probably mistake his performance for Shiva battling Bruce Lee's ghost in an overclocked Large Hadron Collider. There's more to this lineup that I'll keep secret.

--------------------------------------------------

The visuals during my set will be handled by Don Miller aka NO CARRIER and Paris Treantafeles, formerly known as Voltage Controlled. I call them The NTSC Pals (aka Da Neva Tacky Style Controllaz).

minusbaby "Saudade for Beginners" (8BP089)

After a five-year hiatus, minusbaby returns to our discography with the hip-shaking "Saudade for Beginners"; five tunes written in São Paulo, Brazil and East Harlem, New York City. Whereas "Monkey Patch" concerned itself with fictitious apes and animal hybrids, "Saudade for Beginners" aims to express life after the experience of saudade, a term often discussed pedantically by the academe, but best left to music and poetry as in bossa nova and samba – of which minusbaby is a devoted connoisseur. Shake what your mãe gave you.

All-new minusbaby Gear

I will be selling special, limited edition copies of "Saudade for Beginners" at Blip Festival 2008.

--------------------------------------------------

I will also have t-shirts on sale, designed by me and silkscreened by Damon and George of Starscream. With every t-shirt purchase, you'll get a 1.5", square minusbaby button. It will look nice next to a coffee mug. Inside a coffee mug, even. Best on something soft, but not tender.

========================================

Well, that's all for now. I hope to see many of you at the show. It's a beautiful thing. Indubitably.

All the best,
Rich, otherwise known as minusbaby

Two 8bp releases I've been anticipating for a long time, out on the same day. Thanks for this, but personally I prefer the other version of Ela Chegou.

I want to make it to this more than anything but i know it's close to impossible -- as i'm finishing up the end of this semester during then...
(I do however have to make a gallery visit - what better place than nyc? what dates are you actually going to be there)
also, i seriously want a tshirt and pin. where do i send some dollars and how much

and
what kind of visuals do you usually use for your shows? I'm interested since I've just kinda recently been exposed to the vj world, my boyfriend keepin things nice with it as prime example.
